As a musician, This is the most fucked thing on earth. Trigger warning: Abuse.

Been there, felt that.

It feels super weird to hear someone else being ragged on the same way i do.  Like it is literally so similar; the verbal style and rhetorical techniques are so familiar.

This was painful to watch, because i’ve been there.

Yeah, same. My parents are extremely supportive of what I want to do, because they know very well it’s VERY possible to make money from it, even a living.

People have this argument “less than .1% of musicians get big”
as if you have to GET BIG or something because yeah that’s definitely why people do it yeah

you don’t need to get big to make a living

you need to know people, be good with communications, know business, etc.

just be a hard worker and take advantage of what you can like any damn thing and you’ll be fine

Can’t…Watch….Whole…Thing…

The reasons why this is wrong have been the subject of too many books, movies, essays, and songs for me to have to explain, but if that won’t suffice, just read the other comments

Been on both sides, to be honest, but that’s personal and I ain’t going there here.  My issue with parent’s of our generation is they don’t understand that it isn’t 1970, shit is different, people socialise differently, society expects different of us as a younger generation, and we’re under different pressures.

This is one of the more depressing video’s I’ve seen lately, I have to say. If you’re in this position, I feel for you.

As a game designer, I can 100% say that this happens with almost all artistic career choices, fuck I’m ragged on daily because I can only do minimum wage jobs during the summer, and code, Like, I can’t work 3 jobs like my parents because I can’t get 3, coding is what I do in the mean time to attempt to get money, yet still ragged on. Parents don’t get this generation at all.

my parents never did this to me but I’ve had other people in my life who have.
